Model Context Protocol — the open standard for tool ecosystems.

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting language-model applications to tools and data sources. Instead of writing a custom integration for every pair of model client and service, a service exposes an MCP server once and any MCP-capable client can use it.

Articles in this category explain how MCP works in practice: servers, clients and transports, what tools, resources and prompts are, and the security questions that come with giving a model access to real systems, such as authentication, permission scoping and untrusted tool output.
